Overnight stop in athlone

Hi all. Does anybody have any experience of an overnight stop near or in athlone town. I have heard of using the council car park at the Hodson bay hotel. But on questioning this at the hotel ,was informed (by the helpful staff!!!) that there were sighns up ,not to park overnight. Can anybody confirm .
Thanks in advance. Cheers

I have parked several times in the Co Co car park at Hodsun bay, this car park has NOTHING to do with the hotel,so how can they tell you where you can and cant park.As a matted of fact a lot of the hotel clients use the Co Co car park,so go ahead and park there.

The signs are up for a long time and i have often seen vans parked overnight including myself, try and stay over to left as you enter there is more room there.

motor homes welcome at coosan point just outside Athlone.

i see a lot of vans parked up near burgess park beside the golden island shopping center. the shopping center car park closes barriers at 11 pm, i'm not sure if they allow you to stay inside the locked barrier but there's plenty of room along side the car park.
it might be a case of parking in the car park during the day and moving out along side it when it gets quieter later on.

the mill pub in monksland also welcomes motor homes.

i see a lot of campers parked for the night in the B&Q car park. again don't know how official it is but plenty of space

If you want to download them onto a sat nav you need to get one that will allow the inport of files. The cheap truck navs on ebay and amzon are great but dont seem to offer this facility. You can get map software for free on Ipad and Android tablets which will allow it .
