Water Ingress in Engine Bay

First of all, I am guessing this is a common problem, because frankly, What an epic fail of a design. 🇧🇭

Fiat Dacato X230, Year 2000.

I noticed that there was water getting into the Engine bay every time it rained.

1) Drain Pipe not attached properly - Fixed with Silicon, now water tight.

2) The seal where the plastic trim meets the windscreen, leaking and in places not even touching the windscreen.

3) The seal where the Drain Mouth meets the plastic trim, rock hard and gaps. So lots of water leaking from here rather than going down the drain.

So for 2 and 3. I am thinking I that need some sort of seal. Maybe something like the sticky back window sealing strips I can get in local hardware store.

One solid strip along the windscreen seal (Placed between the Plastic Trim and the windscreen) and an another round the drain mouth.

Or maybe there is something else I can get made for the job?

I also had a look at the drain from under the motorhome, and it seems to end just above and to the right of the Alternator, is this normal?
Seems like a bit of a odd place, since it's up against some of the sound isolating fabric, very close to the alternator and leaves the water flow over the front right wheel steering and drive umm things.

Any how I could take the Motorhome back and try and get this fixed under warranty, but that is a massive pain in the backside. But maybe less though than fixing it myself.

Any advice on how I can solve this issue much appreciated.

Edit: Just trying to make it a little clearer.

We had a 2004 Ducato and I must say we never had any problem with it, But I heard the 2007 model was notorious for water ingress in the first year of production. Sorry that I can't be of any help.

I had a Swift Bolero on the Fiat and had the same problem. I took it back to my fiat dealer and he solved the problem as it was a recall.

Hmm, being a 2000, I'm not sure that affects me. Maybe this isn't such a common issue.

Just from the design it seems bound to fail. For example my Renualt Master van, has one large seal that goes from the from bottom left side, round the back/top of the engine bay and down the right side, making a completely tight seal when the bonnet is closed. Water drains round the sides and down out the front. This is a good design, even if you block the drains water still can't get into the engine bay.

The Dacato on the other hand seems to have 5 separate ways water can get into the engine bay.
1: Under the seal where the windscreen meets the trim.
2: The seal where the 'gutter' meets the bonnet.
3: The seal where the drain mouth meets the bonnet
4: The pipe that attaches to the drain.
5: The small and unsealed left/right side gutters.

And after all that the drain seems to dump the water on mechanical parts of the van.

So I think this week I will take an attempt to seal these my self, and if I can't do it I guess it's back to the dealer have them do it. I shale take a few pictures and post them up if it works.

I will be ranging if I end up with no motorhome during this good weather.

There was a call back to rectify the problem. Check if yours ever had the problem rectified in the call back.

For the older models too?

How do I check.

Thanks.

Yeah as far as I know. There was a lot of publicity about it.
