had a breakdown in Nimes France on 1 Aug 1991 Peugeot based Hymer Camp 52 was recovered to a Peugeot Garage. The gear cables needed replaced and was told they had to order them in and they wouldn't have them until 22nd of August when they would be fitted same day. Heard nothing from the garage so rung them on 26th to be told that they had to be re-ordered because they hadn't arrived.
Am at the point now where insurance and Mot both run out this month and still no sign of repatriation what do I do next?

Inform insurance of the issue, renew for another year as normal and apply online for your MOT date?

I think the vehicle is a 1991 Peugeot.

My advice is same as Hessy hymer.

Do you have repatriation on your breakdown policy? If you do....on the basis that the vehicle has been stranded and not fixed in almost 5 weeks and the Mot is due to expire, I would be pushing for repatriation of the vehicle to NI. No guarantee (or confidence) that the parts/repair will be carried out any time soon (and this is a Peugeot main dealer). Need to get it home and sorted here.

Will try for repatriation but it gets worse, my breakdown policy is with 'drive 24/7'' initially there was a split fuel pipe and the vehicle was brought into a local garaged and repaired, by which time the garage with no English speakers had closed (6pm on a Friday night). By the time I was able to get through to Drive 24/7 it was Saturday morning. There stance was that this wasn't part of the same file which was now closed and because it may have been the previous garages fault they said I would have to pay it upfront and submit all the bills to them before they would pay out.

Have also been advised that it's probably time to get the ombudsman on board.

According to their website, Drive 24-7 has a 15 year age limit for vehicles travelling abroad and the vehicle must not be over 5.5 metres (18 feet) in length:

http://www.drive24-7.com/FAQs/default.aspx

Also if you breakdown on an Autoroute, you have to pay for your own recovery :o

I really hope that you get things sorted quickly.
