Does anyone know if waterways Ireland allow parking at their harbours?

A lot of the harbours are in towns with toilets and showers available. You need a smart card at night but these can be bought online

Yes they do and are terrific locations for motorhomes. We regularly spend a weekend somewhere around Lougn Derg. Smart cards are brilliant too

Some of the local shops where the toilet/shower blocks are located sell the smart cards as well, some are signposted from block or ask a local they will point you in the right direction

Yep really well maintained harbour and jetty.
Toilets were locked and you needed a smart card but that was after 8pm so I'll check in the morning.
Great playground for the kids.
Spotted a tap behind the playground if you had a hose you could fill up.

It's all ready on the craic map,
under
( Portrunny Harbour, Lough Ree, Co. Roscommon )

It would be nice if you could put it in the Review's Section when you get time.
Thank's :-)

Hia

Smart Card
Is this so you can access toilets or is it to pay to stay?

I found you needed the smart card to open the toilet door, but it didn't charge you for it. Keep the riffraff out I suppose.

Waterways Ireland have a project team in please looking at developing an offering to motorhome based tourists which would provide official parking and services.
An obstacle to be overcome is the parking at marinas where the car park area is owned by an anti motorhome local authority and not W.I.
