A question I have been meaning to ask since we started going to France is which Diesel is correct for our Motorhome? Diesel or Diesel+ ? It is a Renault Master Dci150, I have been using the cheap stuff but I don't think I am getting the same MPG as at home.

Hi Pat.,French diesel may not have as many additives as here it is all down to price. You can buy additives in the supermarkets ,I myself use a little drop of twostroke oil now and again. The main thing is the right foot as you can be tempted to give it a bit of wellie on the good roads. Must admit I dont find a lot of difference between France and Spain as far as fuel from supermarkets are concerned except its cheaper and I try and cruise around 60mph for best results.

I covered 1,130 miles in France in August. Fuel consumption (fully loaded) 26.5 mpg (Applegreen), 32.1mpg (Total Excellium), 26.8mpg (Super U), 25.2mpg (Auchan).

I didn't get a chance to fill up again with Total Excellium again to prove the theory. There were height restrictions at some of the filling stations i.e. Avaranches and so I never went below a quarter of a tank just in case.

I did try to cruise at a constant 100kph cruise (55mph on Sat Nav) however on the long descents it frequently crept up to 110kph.

Interesting results. Did you do the checks by filling and recording mileage or is it one of those inbuilt MPG computers in your van.

I must point out though that your 55mph should convert to 88kph so there appears to be quite a disparity between your speedo and sat nav.

That's a very good price Mark, we paid 1.09 at a Supermarket in Valras Plage Yesterday and it was 1.25 / 1.28 on the Motorway on the way down.

I use a calculator - trip computers aren't that accurate imo.

I'm afraid I'm not into buying cheap diesel. One gets what they pay for and I get fantastic results from B p Ultimate Diesel. I won't buy supermarket rubbish diesel. Sorry if I appear to be harsh.
