Just drove round the dordogne yesterday on the way to the med.
the weather has been hot there for the past four weeks (until we arrived). I drove in some of the worst rain I have ever seen (in over 30 trips to France). We had to get off he autoroute until it passed. You will be happy to hear it is set to improve in the next few days.
We are currently in Gruissan in almost 30 degrees and sunny.
We have been in France for 3 weeks now. Near Saintes at the moment but weather not so good. Thinking about going down to the med. We have until end of August. What's Gruissan like? We would like to find a campsite near a decent village with a good beach for walking. Any ideas? Enjoy the sun. we are staying here until we see the hurling semi final on Sunday. we have it here so dont want to risk losing it before sunday.
There are 3 aires in Gruissan (one on the beach) and a municipal campsite (which we have never used) aires are fine.
It is a port/marina with an old town too. Weather here is usually much better than other areas but usually windy.
Narbonne plage is bigger beach for walking on and it is only 10 minutes from here.
Saintes to Gruissan is about 8 hours drive.
We sail home at the end of August too. Give us a shout if you get this far.
Sorry for hijacking the thread.
