Hi Pat,
We have stayed at two sites near Paris.

This is my preferred option although it is on the south side of Paris but not too hard to access. Nice compact clean site with free wifi. The reception did not speak English when we visited but not an issue. The RER (fast commuter trains) leave from a station about 10 min walk from the site, and you can get off at Notre Dame or I believe you can go on through to Versailles.

We have stayed at this site, but I found it to be a bit cramped and heavily wooded with potential for damage to van as driving is a bit tight round the site. Over priced and over rated in my opinion, although it is again about 10 min walk to an RER station. We cycled 15 minutes to Versailles from the site. Flat and easy ride. The site can sell you tickets for entry to Versailles which helps you jump the queue.
You can also get advance tickets for the Louvre near the museum.
People also give good reports about the Bois de Boulogne site but I have no personal experience of this one.
Hope this helps.
Davy
