Water pump pulsating

Hi all, hope someone can help give some advice.

Our water pump works well but is very noisy when you turn the tap down as the pump pulsates. I understand this is something to do with the water pressure and a microswitch somewhere.

It really does make quite a racket and as I don't want to annoy neighbours I reckon I should get it sorted.

Anyone ever had similar and how was it sorted?

Theres a little pressure adjusting screw on the front of some of the surflow pumps sometimes under a sticker, see if yours has one ant try adjusting it, count the turns either way in case you need to return it to its present position.

Ours makes a bit of racket when the tap is just on at a trickle, not so bad if the tap is running at a 'proper' rate. I would suggest you stand outside and listen to it. Ours is just audible at a distance of about 2 metres which is about the minimum distance you are likely to be from another van.

It is a necessary operation in a van and I don't think people get too concerned about it as it is likely to only run for a minute or so at a time, noisy neighbours ( we were next to a Spanish couple on an Aire this year and they sang as they did everything ), barking dogs, children and generators are more likely to annoy people.

I have read that some people mount the pump on a piece of rubber to try and insulate it from resonating the board it is fitted to. But this is unusual and the jury has not ruled on its effectiveness.

I think you're right as that's just what I was trying out this morning and although it's a bit windy today I could barely hear it standing right next to the van.

I tried adjusting the pressure switch bit it's full on and decreasing it made it worse son think it's likely working as it should. The main noise seems to be coming from the back though rather than the pump so it must be a pipe knocking when it pulses! :)
