Fiamma wind out Drips

OK don't think this has been asked

With having a swish bang van (Sliding Door) when it rains water runs off the awning when closed and onto the furniture inside when you open the door
I have cured the problem of the water running off the roof by making a gutter out of alli angle fixed over the door recess but still have the problem with it coming off the awning case.
Have a solution that when it rains (and when doesn't it) I wind out the awning a few inches and this solves the problem great until I forget and drive off (did once with it still open) or after a journey and you simply open the door wet seat.

Any body solved this or any ideas folks

David

Ken
Thinking the same but a bit warm in Spain & would miss getting wet almost ever day

As it appears that I have "beat" the forum I think that I should have a prize, suggestions on the inside of a plain brown sealed envelope OR better still if you organise a collection for me to pay for my ferry over we could come over and travel around Ireland so that "members" could have a look at my problem first hand to solve this tricky problem I am sure that there might be a Few rainy days when folks could have a look.
 O-)

David I would suggest you stay well clear of the west (wet) of Ireland you would never be able to open your side door, I thinking of getting a boat, just to go to the supermarket O-)

To be honest I'm not sure what you are talking about, post a few pictures to give us a better idea of what it is you need to cure.

John

http://tse1.mm.bing.net/th?&id…9&rs=0&p=0

currently away in the van making our way to the Malvern Motorhome show

Found the above which shows how the fiamma awning is fitted and as you can see it sits on the roof a few inches off of the bodywork. This give a better view of why it is happening than any photo I could take

So when it rains all the water simply runs off the front of the awning and as the top of the van is not quite so wide as the sides when the sliding door is open the water runs onto furniture inside.
It also does it when the door is slightly open because as soon as the door is released it moves out leaving a nice gap for the water to enter.

Don't think that it happens on the newer type vans as they are a bit more box and don't taper in at the top.

Hope it makes a bit more sense now
David

Did you look at the purpose made drip strips by fiamma they come in various widths to suit the various vehicles the awnings are fitted to. I know that there is a gap between some awnings and the vans and they cure the water running down the walls.

Thanks John

Yes did have a look and as you say they stop water running down the van wall at the back of the awning this is not a problem now as I have fixed a a strip of angle alli over the door opening so this water simply runs down each side it is the water coming off of the front of the awning housing.

I suppose I am looking for someone who has had an idea for stopping this. my only thought at present is to fix Alli micro U section something like this to the front of the awning but think is may look a bit unsightly even if I sprayed it first

Hence the hopeing that someone has come up with a better idea

Just a quick thought, what about a bead of clear silicon along the front edge running at a slight angle downwards away from the area being affected.

Or stick the rain guard strip directly onto the awning (might work, that is assuming I understand the problem correctly).
