A motor home has been gutted in a blaze on the M66.
Reports of the fire were received into the M.E.N office shortly before 1pm.
An eyewitness said: "It was after the Ramsbottom junction on the way to Rawtenstall.
"It was on the hard shoulder with about five people stood near it.
"They didn't seem to be injured.
"No sign of a crash as far as I could tell."

There are delays so travellers are advised to find an alternative route if possible and to avoid the area.
The M.E.N traffic service provider reported at 1.30pm: "Reports of one lane closed and queueing traffic due to vehicle fire on M66 Northbound between J1 A56 (Ramsbottom) and A56 Edenfield Bypass / A680 Bolton Road North / A56 Wood Lane / A676 Bolton Road North (Ramsbottom Junction).
"Callers report that lane one (of two) is closed, affecting traffic heading from Bury towards Rawtenstall."
It is not known how the fire started.
A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to the scene at 12.40pm to reports of a fire involving a motor home on the hard shoulder.
