Cheap Truck S\at Nav

A couple of years ago I bought a "posh" garmin Sat Nav which is great for the car but it sure took us down some wonder roads (well sort of a road) when went to the Tywyn Rally

Anyway on Flea bay there are loads of Truck Sat Navs and I wondered if any body used these

The one that to me looks OK is

I have been using one of those Nozatec ones for a while now, have to say it does what it says on the tin and I have updated the maps a couple of times. The only problem I have come across is that i have been unable to add POI files to it, you can add favourites which if you have a dozen or so it would be ok but so far I can't get the Craic map items added.

Overall for the price you can't beat it, and it does warn of low bridges if you put the dimensions in for your vehicle, not sure about narrow roads.

That's the one I have, friend in work has the 5inch version, but still like the 7inch for the motorhome.

Dont touch the ebay xgody 7" with a bargepole, im in the process of returning one. Really really dim screen, unreadable in sunlight, 2015 maps turned out to be 2012? Screen freezes, just crap in my experience!

Bought the 7inch Noza Tec before going away.

Cannot fault it at all, it took me every where i needed to go with no fuss whatsoever. On the way home up the M6 it kept trying to get me to go ofgf the Motorway, as I knew best I ignored it, traffic got worse and came to a standstill (for hours!") i put on mjy phone and google maps, it was saying exactly the same as the Sat Nav, it was trying to get me to avoid the traffic jam, I never even knew it had that feature.

Excellent piece of kit - £36 for lifetime updates, how could you go wrong. Screen is a bit dim but with the sun shade provided it was grand.

How did you guys get on with your purchase?? Got a friend to go through the motions for me on site but he got a lot of Chinese bumph so pulled out as he is wary of Chinese reconditioned models.
I thought they were being supplied by someone in Glasgow?? Any advice as I am also in the market for a new GPS.

Can I just say they don't take a drop onto the screen too well, oops, broke mine en route to Spain as I dropped it and smashed the screen. Luckily I had the old one with me as well as I was leaving it out there.

Go here: http://www.elitefashion99.co.u…nload.html

Plug the satnav into your computer via USB, open the map folder and drag and drop each file into the map folder, making sure to overwite the existing ones.

I think there is 2 files for the UK and 3 for Ireland, but you will see that when you download them.

The Jury is out at the moment on this one for us.
The Gps was delivered in very good time from the UK and we used it for the first time this weekend going to Drumcora, Leitrim. The unit appears to be a bit flimsy and when I turned it on May 2013 came up on the screen and I took that to be the age of the maps, however when we used it a hell of a lot of the roundabouts were not on it, I reckon the maps are years older and the truck speed limit of 50 MPH when exceeded was quite annoying when your one kept telling me that I was over the speed limit in an annoying accent.

Funny how reading the instruction book is a last resort but I do know that you can change loads including the speed bit, still to use mine so will hold my decision for a bit

To sort the speed limit business, change from a truck to a car, you can also amend the dimensions of the car to the height and width of your vehicle. Do a map update as well.

When I got my tomtom a few years ago on the cheap I plugged it into the PC and it had to go through 5years of updates to the maps, these are no different.

Like Heanorboy, I bought a Garmin Camper 760 or summit.
It took me off main roads & down some real stoters.
Garmin took it back & supposedly fixed it.
It has started doing it again.
Wanted to take me off the main road onto no better than a dirt track, only to rejoin the main road around a bend in the road. Mad.
So I searched the forum & came across these posts & have bought the 7" Noza Tec.
Received it at the weekend & updated the maps, only to get a message that a critical error has occurred.
🇧🇭 🇧🇭 🇧🇭
Out of the frying pan so to speak.
Waiting for the supplier to come back to me to get me sorted.
Technology is wonderful when it works.
Waiting to see how Noza Tec works before selling Garmin.
Should've stuck with TomTom o.O

Find it way ahead of anything else, about €18.00 for full version.
Really, really clear distinctive routing and graphics. Make sure your tablet is GPS or use a Bluetooth GPS receiver.
Definitely recommend it.

It's a very very good platform Arthur.
I don't know how to tell if the Galaxy is GPS enabled..... maybe a Google search on the exact model.
I'm running it on an iPad 3 that has inbuilt GPS and use a suction window mount for the iPad.
The big screen is excellent, easy to see. POI's can be added easily.... I also run tomtom as a back up and the Sygic is much superior. It's auto update via wifi is an excellent feature and just noticed a few more items on the map the last time I used it which was last week.
Definitely buy the pro Europe version, relatively inexpensive (Just checked, €23.99)and superb mapping.

Are you guys using the car version?
Truck version is 129 euro. Van version is 69.99 euro for 1 year licence.

Yes, using the car version. That price is wrong Arthur.... Mine at the time was €16.99 but a bit dearer now at €23.99..... That's for the European full version. ( see screen capture)

Yes Jack, free version is very basic, however the European upgrade is superb IMO.
Really good routing, clear concise instructions, speed cameras and even speed warning for corners.

I'm not getting that.
Maybe because I downloaded the truck version (to have the ability to puy MH sizes in.
When I go to the shop it only gives me the truck & van options.
The truck version is a 3 year licence.

Just done a route navigation on the Sygic truck nav.
It recognises a bridge that my close to £300 Garmin does not.
Well impressed. Just not sure about paying ongoing charges.
I see it uses TomTom maps.
Still think I Should've stuck with TomTom

Well, Noza Tec away back for a replacement.
Will give them 1 more chance.
Have emailed Garmin. Gave them ultimatum. Sort it quick or refund.
Atm, not fit for purpose.

I too bought a Noza tech - brilliant for both of the days it worked but there after it just came up fatal error every time it booted up.

Now using a combination of TomTom (which I prefer but my example is unreliable) and Garmin (which I dont like but at least it always works)

I notice that several of the TT satnavs no longer allow you to add POIs

We have two of these, I use one every day, great for keeping an eye on the speed. Also use it all the time to navigate. Have also one in the RV took my boys to Nice then Lyon and through Paris and back home.they also have an input for a rear view camera. We have also Tom Tom and a Garmin all cast aside now we. also have three vehicles with factory built in sat nav but I prefer the Xgody 886. On several occasions the Garmin and Tom Tom were away off finding the location.so far I two years of daily use the Xgody has worked for us. 7" sat nav with camera input European maps for around £40 not a big risk.

Have also one in the RV took my boys to Nice then Lyon and through Paris and back home.they also have an input for a rear view camera. We have also Tom Tom and a Garmin all cast aside now we. also have three vehicles with factory built in sat nav but I prefer the Xgody 886. On several occasions the Garmin and Tom Tom were away off finding the location.so far I two years of daily use the Xgody has worked for us. 7" sat nav with camera input European maps for around £40 not a big risk.


I have the x gody as well ,been using it for a few years and can't fault it,only thing is I cant find any updates for it.
