door lock broken

hi all - just back from 3 weeks in france and spain without a hitch - stopped for groceries on the way back from rosslare and found the key would lock the main habitation door but would not open it - just kept turning - had to get in through the van to open op.
Called in to local locksmith who could not find any brand name on lock and suggested it needs a new barrel (meaning a new key and separate from all other outer habitational locks ) or send the barrel and key somewhere to see if they could get a barrel to suit the key ?
will try to add photos but anybody have sites or dealers they could direct me toward ?
cheers

That type of lock is famous for causing issues. I had one on my auto trail and it locked me out despite being unlocked, they no longer make them anymore. I took it apart and had to make a new arm for the mechanism.

Contact manufacturers, get the replacement number and cost, hit the www and gocompare.
~With Hessy - you can buy the barrels and replace them all to provide the same key use.
Could you not use the opportunity to upscale the lock to a higher standard and use a seperate key?

Not sure, I worded my post wrong. I meant the whole handle mechanism, at the time I searched around the net and there were a load of posts with issues with that handle/lock, most were of the same view that it wasn't produced any more. I've no idea about fixing a barrel.

Are you sure it's not the handle/lock mechanism as opposed to the barrel?

If the handle is faulty and the barrel can be used again try ebay item number 171722976711

It might be the same.

Thanks all - got sorted by maynooth motorhomes . It was the barrel broken inside the sleeve. They had a removal key which we released the barrel and fitted a replacement barrel for 20 euro - now I've an extra key on the keyring and happy out!
