Donegal Pier not accommodating Camper Van Tourism
11/06/2015 9 Views

Donegal Town’s inability to adequately cater to camper vans is being highlighted by a local Councillor.

Independent Counillor Niamh Kennedy raised the issue at this week’s Donegal Municipal District meeting, saying that Donegal Pier in particular was no longer accommodating what was once an important source of revenue.

Parking spaces on the pier formerly favored by camper vans during the summer months are now being occupied by buses, forcing tourism out of the local area.

The council responded by saying that the area does not have the necessary toilet and electricity facilities to cater to the vehicles.

Councillor Kennedy believes that we should be capitalising on the spend these tourists bring with them

Obviously Councillor Niamh Kennedy is a politician to be supported and if we have any useful information in support of our cause we could pass on same to her.

Someone local needs to give "the council" a tour of a motorhome and ask "Why are toilet and electricity facilities considered necessary?".
