Hi all
My Truma Water Heater is not working. When I switch it on it Clicks and after a while the Red Light comes on.I presume it's an Ignition Problem.
Is this something I could sort Myself.Does the Top cover come off to work on it,or do I need to remove the Unit to Work on it.?
I tried to attach photos but I'm getting the Error-Photo too Large Message.I thought they would Automatically Resize.? :(

Truma have a lot of info online. Even have an App. which may help you as they do have a few models out there, so depending on model there may be a few different solutions.

If you use "click here to add attachments" it won't resize. If you use THIS method it does but only to a certain degree.

A website that will do it for you: http://resizeyourimage.com/EN/

I had a similar sounding problem caused by an air lock
Have you tried to bleed it?

Hi Paddy,
Feel free to give us a ring tomorrow, we have a supplier of Truma parts so we should be able to get to the bottom of the problem.
I wouldn't know myself but one of the guys in the store should be able to help.
Regards
Michael

I found that turning the temp on the taps to hot and then run the water through the system bleeds it - it splutters alot but does it.
WIth the thermostat going "clunk" and then red light on, with Hessy's yoke it is due to the gas not being there for ignition, so i light the heating to ensure that the gas is in the pipes. ~Then turn off and turn on the water heater which starts ok.
If it dosent - give it a minute or two and try again.
I dont know what ignites the gas and if it is the battery at the heater or 12v from the van? I just ensure that the gas fire batteries are in good condition incase it goes out and that there is juice to spark it again.

If you don't have a full 12V in your leisure battery it can sometimes fail to start. Running the engine or plugging in can get it ignited. If not, it could be the igniter which has blown.

Don't remove the plastic cover . The electric bits and the sparker are in the triangular bit at the side. Pcbs often fail. I always keep a couple in stock. Before you do any more blast a good airline in through the vent on the side.

Thanks for all the Replies and Tips.
Done a bit of Footering about this evening with it.Kept starting it and it would die each time but it seemed to be lighting so kept trying, it stayed on a little longer each time and eventually stayed on and heated the water.
I'm hoping that it was just the lack of use and that it cleared itself. Will know better after the Weekend as We're heading away for a Couple of Days.

Sounds like an air lock in the gas line, mine did that once when I had the regulator changed.

An air lock should free itself within 2-3 attempts unless the bottle was nearly empty.
