Need a 93 hymer ducato ignition barrel !

Hi all, after a great weekend at the Vantastival fest, we went to leave on Monday afternoon and she would not start, :( turning over but no power to the glow plugs, also lights on dash started flickering and going out when key was wobbled in the barrel. Had to strip wires and bridge the switch and then she fired no bother and no further hassle on the drive home. So basicaly im pretty sure a refurbed ignition barrel and switch will do the trick, can anyone help with this one? :up:

Strip your own and clean up the contacts? I did that a couple of months ago on another of that era, worked fine since.

Thanks very much, only finished cleaning out the feckin mud today so ill get in and try removing and cleaning it tomorrow, if i get no luck in this is it possible to get a replacement?

I was checking the connections when Hessy wouldnt switch off - i noticed some of the ignition connections were brown tinged - so i cleaned them off and ensured good contact. It wasnt the issue - but could have been at a later stage. Good Call Tristan :up:

Thanks a lot guys, im gonna get stuck into that tomorrow, another small question to Hessy, did your baby have a wobbly ignition key?, wondering if my key might be a bit worn too?

No Marty she dosent, does the key wobble in the petrol cap barrel?? If so - the key is worn.

The key codes from fiat are as below, go onto the EPR site to confirm the numbers and feed into the internet where you should be able to get a set of locks handy enough. If you get a set of new barrels you can change the petrol cap one as well which is the same as the ignition.

Or cheaper and easier and if the key is fine in the petrol cap barrel- change the petrol cap one with the ignition barrel one??

Thanks a lot for the help Hessy, my girl has a diff key for ign and fuel cap so i cant switch them, ill clean first and see if that does the trick, at least now i know how to hot wire her. Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

Hi again guys and thanks very much for all the help, fiddled a bit with it today :bandit: and im pretty sure its nackered, im getting nothing on the dash at all. :(
She still fires up and drives fine with the hot wire job but nothing from the switch. So thanks very much for that link Phill, ive contacted them and hope ill have one soon, much appreciated :happy: , and again thanks to all who offered advice, Maurice hit the nail on the head, sound gang, fair play :up:
