The craic map doesn't throw up any suggestions in the general vicinity of Ballyhoura. Can anybody recommend places in the area?

Two years ago we did overnight in the carpark at the MTB trail head without any problem and would like to do the same again. But officially I don't think one is supposed to (maybe a blind eye policy). So I'd like to have a near by alternative in case the trail head is not an option.

If you do go don't follow the sat nav from charleville side as it brings you cross country,
Best go the roundabout in mallow and turn right for Killarney and cecilstown is sign posted to the right off this road, it's the best road, I found out the hard way,

You could try the car park beside the church in Ardpatrick lovely small village with a pub and small shop across the road. Also be aware that the gate at the trailhead car park is closed by a time switch at 10pm. You are about a five minute drive from Ardpatrick to the trailhead.

Just wondering if you were able to park overnight at the Ballyhoura trail head in the end or if you stayed somewhere else locally? We're thinking of heading down that way this weekend.

Cheers,

Stephen
