Gas Tank adapter

When I got my Hymer last year it came with a full tank of gas in the underslung gas tank, bearing in mind it was first reg in 1990 and was probably manufactured in 1989. I thought it would be straightforward to refill, went to my local gas supplier- Bangor Fuels- and they told me "you need a bayonet connector", so, Hamilton gas had the male bayonet connector to suit Bangor fuels nozzle but the other end of the bayonet connector had a 22mm male thread and the boss on my tank has what looks like 3/4 BSP (about 1 inch) internal thread, SO where can I get an adapter to go from one to the other?
I did make an adapter on my Myford lathe but the change wheels available plus my incompetence resulted in gas escaping before it lifted the valve to enter the tank.

do you fill straight into the tank?

my tank has a flexible hose from tank to an external filling point on side of my van
the bayonet connector from hamiltons simply screws in when i need to fill then unscrew again.

Take it to Simon at LTS in Dromore (advert at top of this page). He should be able to sort you out with the correct fittings and a filler cap that takes the pump directly.

He did my Gaslow system and filler cap. He did an underling tank for Bob with a filler cap. Great job.

Guess what, a previous owner had the inlet point tucked behind the bulkhead, I did look at this but incorrectly assumed it was a heater drain point, I was trying to screw the bayonet connector via my home made adapter into the outlet of the relief valve - what a plonker! As Mark suggested I took it to Simon and he pointed out the error of my ways and I now have gas.

Good to hear you are sorted.
I hope you mentions Motorhome craic when you with Simon. It is good for him to know his advert is worthwhile.
