Got mine done in Spain before we set off home the last time and it cost around €5 for the tablet and signature. If I recall you then have 48 or 72 hours before you have to do it again.
I have heard of horrendous fees around the ports for this service.
I have just applied for my puppy's pet passport so she can go on her holidays with us and currently reading through guidance and regulations - Can someone tell me the process in simple steps, I am reading about having to get blood tests done etc before you return to UK.
Any help would be much appreciated

There is no need for the blood tests, the rules were relaxed a few years ago, if I recall correctly its a registered chip, up to date inoculations and the anti rabies jab a period of time before you travel along with a certain type of worming. To return its only a certain type of worming which is why it was so cheap for us. Some of the French vets insist in tick/flee drops as well but at the time of us taking the dog it wasnt necessary. Best thing to do is talk to your vet. They will advise accordingly. Just make sure that the passport is stamped/stickered/signed and importantly dated with issue and expiry date. The expiry date nearly meant we had to stay on holiday for an extra period as it wasnt on the passport but as everything was only issued a few weeks before they let it pass on that occasion.
Thanks for your help I have a vets appointment on Friday so will have a chat with them about the process etc , I suppose the main thing is to have your vets visit in France organised for the trip home - so if anyone had a handy contact for a vets that was reasonably priced this would also be most helpful

When returning through France from our winter trip last week, the current regulations were as follows
Not more than 5 days and Not less than 24 hours you have your pet passport stamped by a vet who has given your dog a tick and flea and worming control. Worming might not be essential now ... but you would be wise to do this anyway.
We personally didn't make an appointment, we just called into a vets surgery as we passed through a village on route to cherbourg 4 days before we sailed home. The tick and flea, and worming treatment cost 21 euro.

This is why i brought the subject up , I paid €39 in Pontorson , i knew I was being ripped off but did not know any better ,its best to have your dog tic treated before you go (treatment can be bought in supermarkets here ) as there can be some nasty ones abroad , on way home your dog must have worm treatment 120 to 24 hours before departure witnessed on passport by vet ( i think you can supply your own tablets ) and ferry companys like you to check dogs in at terminal building as its time consuming at car check -in point and causes boarding delays
Hi we have been to France and Germany with our two dogs 10 times. The prices have varied ranging from €40-50. Some times the vets give an inoculation and sometimes a tablet for worms. In the pet passport at the rear are pages which the vet has to sign declaring the animal fit for travel to the destination this requires an examination. I find the most convieniant Vet in Cherborg, just as one apppoches the terminal on the right hand side. This saves me having to make unnesasary detours, i have also used a vet in Honfleur and Dinan.
Hope this helps,
Chalkey
