Not on the Map

We are coming over to Ireland in May and I've been scouting Google Earth for suitable overnight spots. Many of the places I've found are already on the map (thanks) but there are a couple of likely looking spots that aren't. Could just be that nobody has discovered them yet but maybe they are not suitable for some reason (I've found empty plots on Google Earth before only to turn up and find a house built there!). Anybody know if these are okay for an overnight?

Fanad Head

or in the car park at the lighthouse

Fanad Head – West side
55° 15.827'N 7° 40.521'W

Doohoma
54° 4.296'N 9° 57.751'W

I hope I've done the links okay which should go to Google maps. You might need to spin around a bit to find the spot.

There are lots of places like that in Ireland that you could park up for a wild camping overnight - that are not on Motorhomecraic's map yet.

Fanad Lighthouse

I am not sure if there is enough space to park in the exact place where you dropped the pin but you could definitely park at the carpark beside Fanad Lighthouse. It is a small carpark but not too busy except for peak holiday time and bank holidays etc. There are rennovations going on at Fanad Lighthouse at the moment (some details here http://www.cil.ie/tourism/lighthouse-tourism-trail.aspx

Fanad Lighthouse West side

Definitely could park there - the road up to it is narrow but only from the point of view of meeting an oncoming vehicle. I would point out that you are just 600 meters east of a fish processing plant and at times there can be a bit of a pong from that place.

Doohoma - never been there

Enjoy your visit to Ireland :-)
