Stayed here last night. A few Other vans. Also a few tuggers manned by our country cousins, but all quiet. Nice spot to stay over. Water available . walking distance to town.

Stayed there a few weeks ago, very popular with mh.There was a local councillor on the radio yesterday giving out that the toilets weren't open for the weekend.

A regular stop for us. In case you didn't know. You can also empty your cassette, even if the toilet block is closed. At the back right hand side of the block (standing facing the front) there is access to the sewer by lifting the small black square cover on the ground. There is a tap near by. I personally would not use this tap for topping up your water as at some point some gobshite has without doubt put their cassette right up to the tap. There are other taps around the marina.
The forest park is great for walking and cycling. The town is pleasant and the locals friendly and appreciative of the business. Such a pity that nothing has been done with the hotel. It's such a blight on the town.
The whole area is also scheduled to get a serious makeover. Bringing it to the standard or Terryglass (or similar) so really looking forward to that. (Must check to see if there is already a review.)

Work is about to begin on improving the harbor for both motor homes and boats on 21st September
There will be spaces for 18 camper vans (RVs), with light, water and power available. There will also be a “New ticket kiosk for RV parking”; I don’t know how that is to be managed or any restrictions on numbers are to be enforced
Who or what is the Recreational Vehicle Rights Campaign.
I can't find any reference to them/it anywhere other than in the very occasional motorhome related article published in Irish Waterways History.
Reference to RVRC appeared in article relating to Irish waterways about 4 or 5 years ago but nowhere else.
They were impossible to contact and even Irish waterways were unable to supply any contact information back then..
At that time they made reference to "we" however I think it may have been an "I".. LOL

Interesting. I have no objections to paying a reasonable fee for a dedicated facility. The question is 'how much' is a reasonable price.
This is a lovely area and I always feel welcome there.
It's only 7 miles from us too Folks, if any of you were there and ran into bother.
Portumna has a good, big , family run SuperValu in the middle of town, with a large parking area at the rear, and an Aldi a short distance out the road.
