Have you any free play in your clutch pedal ?. How far have you to press the clutch pedal before you find pressure ?

Could be the clutch plate is stuck to the flywheel how long has it been sitting.

Hi Michinman, Thanks for reply. No free play in clutch, full pedal pressure. Cheers.

Hi Bigfoot Bair, Funny you said that. That happened two years ago and new clutch plate was put in. 6 months later whiring noise in clutch pedal when changing gears. Was told could last for years. Now no gears when engine running.

Yes the spigot bearing would be turning when you would press the clutch, so would the release bearing (not even sure if there is a spigot bearing on a transit, some modern vehicles don't have one) If it is a bearing and it sounds like that if it is whining the gearbox will have to be pulled back and the clutch, release bearing, spigot bearing/ bushing if fitted inspected

I can remember my first Motorhome had the same problem and it was 2 broken pressure plate springs that was causing it, however the gearbox will have to be removed to repair it anyway, so all can be checked then

No gear select

I had the same symptoms you report on my jeep one morning about a month ago. Most of the Googleing pointed towards the clutch slave cylinder. I pumped the clutch pedal a few times and got it back however it was slowly getting harder to change gear. Got under the vehicle and found the cylinder. Pushed it back and there was no resistance. I pulled back the rubber boot and there was fluid in it (this should be dry). I replaced the cylinder, bled it and it worked a treat.
