saorview signal

Is there an issue with rte and utv on saorview? Spent the weekend in Ferrybank and couldn't get either on the box. The week before that I was in Tree Grove in Kilkenny and received them no problem. I am aware that they are on a different signal but I'm wondering about the inconsistency of it. Any suggestions?

It can be hit and miss, depending where you are, sometimes you can get rte2 but not 1 or tv3

hi all
Thinking of buying a new tv for mh. Will my status aerial fitted enable me to pick up saorview signals in the South of Ireland or will I need to upgrade to a better aerial?

When you get the new to try the aerial you have in a few different places and if it works leave it alone

You need a Tv that can decode mpeg4 to pick up Saorview. Most status aerials are sufficient but without the mpeg4 tv or converter box they won't work.

Thanks for the replies lads. @hymer524, yeah I always do a channel scan each time but even so, no joy. It's not a massive issue, just checking to see if there was a handy tip for sorting it. Thanks again folks.

You should also be aware that the polartity of the aerial is important as well.

If you look at the Main Stations link you will see that the polarity for " Gallows Hill " which is the nearest to Ferrybank and has a "Vertical Polarity " and not A " Horizontal Polarity".

So if you do a scan in that area with you're aerial in the FLAT position you would not receive a signal.

Hope that helps a little. :-)

Wow - never knew that as i was of the thought that the analogue signal was on one axis and digital on another.
I would have never thought of changing the axis - just rip it off and get the sat dish out
Thanks Tom
