Hi all - booked to land in Roscoff late may and drive down towards Malaga for which we have given 7 days . we intend to stay in a friends house for a week and then drive back by a different route
( another 7 days )- no children but one probably bored teenager and a dog - so any suggestions on routes / areas / interesting things to see and do on the way ?
cheers

I can't help with Spain but I have seven from Roscoff to near Bayonne.

Using the autoroute (tolls) I would take the following route.

Roscoff
Rennes
Vannes
Bordeaux
Bayonne.

Plenty of places to stop both on and off the route.

When we did it we went

Cherbourg
Nantes
Bordeaux (not into Bordeaux)
Carcassonne
Perpignon
Barcelona
Valencia
La Manga
Granada
Malaga

It was definitely not the shortest route but we wanted to see Barcelona and Valencia and La Manga and lots of ther places

I think the route you want to go depends on what places you want to stop off and see

We use a similar route to drifter except we don't get as far as Valencia (house is halfway from Barcelona to Valencia )

Valencia has a fantastic aquarium and dolphin show, you also have Port Aventura in Salou both enroute to Malaga

Hello from a wet Benidorm, If you want so save money and still have a pleasant drive I would try Rennes,Nantes,Cholet,Poitiers(Look at Futurscope) Angoleme,Bordeaux. Left on A62 to Langon, right to Pau and Somport tunnel.(I use A62 for 1 stop 3,20eur to avoid Langon). Trough the Somport to Zaragossa and on to Madrid south to Cordoba and in to Malaga.Except for Langon to somport all mostly
dual carridgeway .Motorways in Spain are charged as car. France charged as class2 van very pricey.
Fuel ,buy in supermarket .I paid1.15 in Poitiers and 1.14 outside Zaragossa.so pays to look

we do this trip regularly.. we live in Gibraltar.. Nantes has an interesting show that a teenager would love..
http://www.lesmachines-nantes.fr/en/ The coast road down to the border of Spain offers plenty of beaches, Ondres Plage has a great Aire right on the Beach with electric,, Biarritz has great surfing..If you take this route use the Toll road into Spain, we come down through Burgos, which has a great museum of Human evolution. http://www.museoevolucionhuman…xhibition/. Come down on the road to Salamanca caseres maybe a stop in Seville,,pop into Gibraltar But leave the van in Alcadesia marina on the other side of the border. from there its just an hour to Malaga. Go back via Granada Madrid Zaragosa, poitiers (futourscope) and puy dy foy http://www.frenchdesire.com.au/things_to_do/lepuydufou/ which has a theme park.. You can find places to stay on here.. http://www.campercontact.com/

Winter trip

I've done a similar route on the last 2 Winters - only difference is I travelled by car (I've only just returned to Motorhoming) and went through the UK to Calais. Once in Calais travelled to Reims, St Etienne (detour to Clermont Ferrand for a Munster match), Collioure, Girona, Murcia, Duquesa. On the route back Duquesa, Salamanca or Burgos, Biarritz or Bordeaux, Niort, Calais. If you get a chance, Salamanca or Burgos or both, are definitely worth a visit. The route through central Spain and up western France isn't much different - distance and time wise - from Eastern Spain and then Central France but the scenery and cities are very different. I'd definitely avoid Madrid though - mental driving around there
