Just googled it - looks good, could see you sitting at the fire playing the guitar.

The Thierafurth, South Down's oldest inn, was formerly a halfway house between Newry and Downpatrick. In the nineteenth century it was also used as an overnight stop for prisoners on their way to trial in Downpatrick.

Children are welcome, and there is an enclosed beer garden alongside the restaurant at the rear.

It is also only about two miles from both Castlewellan and Tollymore forest parks, and within half a mile there is Drumena Cashel and Soutterain, one of Ireland's oldest and best preserved examples of such ancient buildings.

Looks nice with plenty of space to park, we'll have to head there soon! can't beat a beer garden in the summer :)

The owner Patrick is looking forward to welcoming Motorhomes.

You shouldn't be able to miss it. Coming from Castlewellan towards Rathfriland after you pass the reservoir on the right. It has its own Motorhome 'aire' sign.

I have not seen any vans parked there. It may get traffic noise as it is open to the main road as you can see from the photos.

We were up that way earlier in the year, and meant to visit, even for a stout. As usual, if I don't do it at the time, I forget. There's a really quaint old pub, think its called the Mountain View in the same locality.

we called in earlier this year but there was nobody about to talk to.
Carpark is big enough but showed signs of possible handbrake turns in the gravel.

I know I put it there :D

IIRC I moved the POI after that time I visited and couldn't find it, but I'm not exactly sure what happened, I just know we drove by it :)

Going to be that way soon was just wondering had anyone use it yet.

I just checked the map and the Poi was about a mile up the road from the "The Thierafurth Inn"

all corrected now :-)

Yes Ally, we stayed there 5/6 weeks ago,mid week.
Parked at the back fence, had a few pints.we were made welcome and it was quiet.
looks like it could easily accommodate quite a few vans- charged a £5.

also stayed at Currans -strangford
and at Mckennas at lough neagh
both good

noticed a clay pigeon shooting range at Mckennas-maybe a discreet phone call ahead would be
worth while !!
