U K Exit checks

Hi all,

There is a hot topic on another forum regarding the introduction of exit checks at ports and airports of all people leaving the U.K. The information is being collated by the UK Border Force.

No doubt it is being politically driven by the concerns over immigration in Britain and the upcoming election.

https://www.eurotunnel.com/uk/api/

It would appear to be leading to delays at ports like Dover.

Has any one found any checks when leaving N. Ireland via the ports of Dublin, Rosslare etc ?

I would hate to miss a boat that only leaves every 2 days unlike the frequent services from English ports to France.

I haven't heard anything locally.
I am going to France via Rosslare later this month Davy so will report back on my return.

Thanks Mark,

It is a busy topic on motorhomefacts, I have been looking on the UK border force web site but can find nothing. I suspect it is a bit of political posturing and as usual would be hard to enforce here with out closing every North /South road as it would not apply to exits from Roslare etc.

It would be more likely to be covered by the routes from here to Britain which are already probably well policed and checked covertly.

Have a good trip.

Unlikely through dublin or rosslare, as for belfast and larne, it won't be more than the usual security checks as it's an internal crossing. Being stopped on the other side at say Holyhead that's a different matter as you are coming in from another country.

Does this not only apply to those who are travelling from mainland UK?

I think so, we were stopped once going through Dover with the car and a trailer load of stuff on our way to the house in Spain and the border guard/customs man wanted to search the car and trailer! But when I said go ahead but with what we have squeezed onto both be prepared for the docks to be blocked for two days while you pack it all on again as that was how long it took to get it on the first time, needless to say we were sent on our way, he was just being an arse.

Folks

I came through Glasgow airport, and with the exception of shoes off again nothing has changed as far as I could see. Oh and now have to separate 100 mL bottles into the clear plastic bags, apart from that was same old same old.
