Anyone know anywhere I can get this done, low miles but now 8 years old so need to reduce risk?
I searched forum and there is a post from 2014 for Victor in Antrim, is that still relative?

I have priced it with Donnellys Mallusk, £384 plus parts I think

Starting point is going to be the price of the kit plus between 4 and 5 hours labour so sub £500? I always base age related belt changes on 5 years so at 8 years I would definitely be considering it. Can't help with suggesting mechanics up there.

I do them in 2.5 - 3 hours depending on whether a class or coach build, air con or not, and assuming nothing goes wrong. Water pump doesn't have to be changed unless it's worn.

Just off the phone with the ONLY FIAT Professional dealers in Northern Ireland
£42.87 Fixed Tensioner
£68.38 Adjustable Tensioner
£81.23 Belt
£225 Labour

£500 all in :'( and 2 year warranty for the replacement.

AND if waterpump has "seepage" then another £225 for the pump :bandit:

Surely there is a cheaper option somewhere.

Thank goodness mines a renault

So is mine but with the S8U (Società Franco Italiana Motori) 2.5 engine as the Fiats and Iveco's. Thankfully a bomb proof non turbo and easy to work on :-)

Just for the record, I phoned a few other Fiat Professional dealers from Fiat website, got a range of quotes from £325 - £699 the latter included a full service.
So it is think of a number where this work is concerned and not a menu as described on fiat website. Texted Vic today but no reply yet, will try him tomorrow.

Try a few commercial garages for prices..

I got my cam belt done for £130 Jack including parts and labour, compared to a fiat that's a bargain.

Sure is, I paid nearly €900 for a timing belt, servis, two rear slave brake cylinders and a habitation test that I never asked for on the Chausson.

Yes John it was, I agree with FC you are probably better off going to a commercial Garage for the vehicle side of things.

Commercial garage would work out better value than the invoice you got Pat

We're not all bad folks, it's 50/hr here, and I wouldn't dream of doing anything to a person's MH without letting them know first.
The Renault belt is simpler to do than a Fiat.

I have a feeling the same dealer will not see the Renault,

The majority of motorhome dealers are motorhome dealers, not commercial vehicle engineers. Personally I feel that they can do everything to do with the habitation and leave the vehicle spannering to those who are expert at it

Got a fiat dealer in Wales doing it for £365 all in, so with a free irish ferries trip to Wales we are going to make a wee holiday out of it. Takes the bad taste away for having to pay for something that is not broken.

I think fiat need to take a look at their Northern Ireland dealership offerings, only two can do motorhomes and both are Donnelly, so no competition whatsoever.

With the sterling as strong as it is, I'd say if you make a few calls down south you should get a better price than that,

I'd stay away from fiat main dealers as main dealers means get the tub of Vaseline ready :bandit:

Exactly Mad Max I needed a bulb for my C6 at the main dealer it was £98 quid plus vat at an independent dealer it was 12.50 plus VAT. In my experience keep away from main dealers as they see you coming.

While it is nice to say you have been to the main dealer for whatever, in reality an independent garage will charge considerably less and if selected properly do the job well. By that I mean commercial garage for commercial based vehicles, car type for cars.

Ken, the major cost was in fitting the blessed thing at the main dealer. They claimed the whole unit had to be taken out and dismantled and there was almost a hours's about charge. The Independent Citroen dealer laughed and knew a better way and was able to put his hand in and take the bulp out and replace it. It took him about 15 minutes in all.
