We are off to Disney and travelling Cherbourg to Paris - a well trodden route one thinks :'(

So thinking of stopping off in Argentan - it seems a good 1/2 way point and perhaps as we are travellng on the National roads instead of the motorways = it might allow us to sample "Franch living and cheap wine"

There is an Aire outside the Campsite and as CAmpsite is not open when we are planning to be there - i have a few queries:
Anyone been here?
Is the Aire Safe?
Is there another Aire in the area you would suggest or have knowledge off?

We have stopped at Pont d'Ouilly which is about 30 - 40 minutes from Argentan.
A nice well kept Aire by a river. It is a couple of minutes walk from the village.

Thanks that looks like an ideal first stop off the ferry

That is true if it is in the direction you are heading.

It is only about 2 hours from Cherbourg. If you are coming off irish ferries in summer you would be stopping very early in the day.
If you are on a Stenna sailing it would be a great stop.

It is a neat and tidy spot.

If you are happy to drive an extra hour from Disney, Fougeres is a nice spot. There is a free Aire in the town centre right beside the castle.
The castle is amazing and well worth paying to get in a explore.

The Aire is much more basic but the castle makes it worth while. It is fine for an overnight.
You would still be the same distance from cherbourg as you would be in Pont d''Ouilly.

Pont d' Ouilly is a nicer Aire especially if you want to stop for more than one night.

They have also added a nice campers shelter with tables and benches since this review was submitted.

nice.
Where did they build that?

Is it on the riverside just on the right before you go up to the exit?
