Campsites near Kilkenny ?

 ·

(I'm making use of my extra free posts O-) )

As we are planning on spending a couple of days around Kilkenny during the summer, I'd appreciate any advice on a decent campsite near the city (town ?) and any pointers on camper-friendly parking.

Maybe there is a site near the centre of town that has a bus service, or a cheap taxi service ? I'm not totally against parking up for a day and having someone else drive me around for a change

Thanks :D

Treegrove is the place.
It is within walking (about 20 mins) distance of the town via the castle grounds

+1 for Tree Grove. Lovely neat little site . immaculate showers/toilets. A 20 minute stroll from Kilkenny centre. Plus Dan is a nice guy. I spent last weekend there with missus and the kids. Would recommend.

We were in Treegrove 2 weeks ago. You can get to campsite without going near City, it is just 100 years off a main roundabout, take the R700, (to New Ross) off the Bennettsbridge roundabout. You can walk into castle/city in around 25-25 minutes.
I did not know about 10%off for craicers, a well!!!! 🇧🇭

Franco I would never get there 100 years off the main road. Some driving and some diesel. Lol

Just spent Thursday night at Treegrove - we walked into town along the canal path which took about 20 minutes. We had a great meal in Matt the Miilers and were too full (of food not alcohol) to walk back - the taxi cost 7.80 which we thought very reasonable. Didn't know about the discount for Craic subscribers

Nore Valley is another site in Kilkenny. Not suitable for walking access to the city due to its distance. It is just outside Bennettsbridge, approximately 8 miles from the city centre. Fabulous location as it's set on an open farm. Family orientated with animal feeding, crazy golf, go karts, tractor rides and kids maze. All for a fee of course but not unexpected. If it's Kilkenny city you are after, then Tree Grove wins hands down. Only a 20 minute stroll into all the action.

Yes. Dogs are allowed in Treegrove.
Must be kept on leads.

He has boarding kennels too. If you bring your dog paperwork it gives you a chance to get out to place you can't take dogs.

Ah well just seeing now that I said 'years' instead of 'yards',!! Hopefully nobody is travelling/taking the 100 'years' option?
