I ordered this strobe flash light from minilinthebox which arrived today I was expecting there would be two wires red and black but there are five (red)(grey)(black)(white)(yellow) there are no wiring instructions so I have no idea how to wire this up as I was expecting two wires positive and negative which would be simple to connect to a battery anyone know how to wire this up 🇧🇭

It is a type of hazard light that flashes white and Amber very effective and easy on power I want to tow my boat behind the camper I have lights on the boat trailer but the outboard motor extends about a foot and a half beyond the trailer lights so I will attach this strobe light to the outboard pointing downwards which should make the whole thing visible

Are you sure it's a strobe?

I'd hazard a guess (and this IS a guess), that each led is wired individually with a common ground wire (black).

First thing I'd do is contact the supplier for the wiring diagram. (Stating the obvious I know. lol)

Failing that, I'd be cracking the cover open if possible to have a look at the PCB. Figure how its wired. Maybe see if it's got some electronics in there.

Last resort, start connecting wires to a 1.5v battery first. Starting with the red to + and black to -. Then two 1.5v batteries in series (making a 3v source). Keep adding batteries until you get to 12v.
If you habe a variable DC power supply, forget about the batteries!! lol
See what happens.
If one LED lights up when red and black are connected then my theory might be on track.
Worse thing that'll happen with this approach is you' may see some magic blue smoke and it'll be game over!
You have been warned! :hide:

Paddy,

1.5 foot by law doesn't need to be marked, over a meter is the requirement,

If you wanted to highlight the motor a fluorescent vest/bib would suffice,

I have a fluorescent cover and a guy still tipped the outboard on the m3 last year lucky no damage he said he didn't see it probably on the phone anyway the boat and trailer is twenty foot long and I have a low profile adria which combined is pretty long and I can't see it in the rear view mirror so this light strobe pointing at the ground will help and I know it is still attached to the camper

Share some pics when the job is done Paddy.

We have an orange dayglow bag covering the prop on ours and I often wondered the same...
