Hi Folks,

I was chatting to a local county council official during the week and the idea of an Aires for the Carrigaline Area came up, they are looking at converting a field which is currently used for car boot sales and circus visits as being an ideal location. It is just next door to the local Lidl and a short walk from the local pubs and shops, restaurants in the town.

They are looking for input from MH groups, given the fact that this would be the first stopover convenient for Ringaskiddy for our foreign friends and a handy overnight for someone catching the ferry out also.

I will follow up and get an email contact address for input on this.

Great News indeed, Mick.
When you say a field, I am getting the impression that it is a bit Rural, am I Right or Wrong?

Cork seems to be very switched on in realising the benefit of Motorhome stopovers. Congratulations to their forward thinking councillors. Pity its not close enough for weekending from northern Ireland. We are lucky to have some great Aires but hindered by cavemen like Mceniffs in Donegal.

It's great to have a Council that is so forward thinking in relation to motor homes.

The area that the circus tents normally go is in a great spot and would be ideal for a motorhome aire. Just a few minutes walk from Carrigaline main street. Lidl right next door, DunnesStores close by, and quite a few nice restaurants and pubs.

And it is right at the start of a super cycle/walk along an old railway track which is at the rivers edge the whole way to Crosshaven.

I forgot about that! A beautiful riverside walk to "Crosser" with a fine pint in cronins pub to reward you! That aire sounds better and better!

Had a meeting with Carrigaline Mens Shed committee last year.
They have plans to create an Aire on the Crosshaven Road opposite the field used for car boot sales, and fun fairs etc.
The place they have in mind is between the old railway embankment and the riverside,Inside This Gate.

Last I heard was that they are investigating who owns the plot with a view to acquiring the use of it for a more permanent 'shed' and a motorhome parking area.

Unfortunately due to time pressure it's one that has slipped off my radar a bit :(
