France with a baby

We are strongly considering heading to France again next year. Thinking about departing late May or early June for about 3 weeks and sticking to the west coast, arriving in Cherbourg and maybe wandering down towards Bordeaux.
We'll have our son with us who will be around 9 or 10 months by that stage. Looking for any experiences people have or any advice.

We usually stay in Aires or France Passion sites, doable with a baby?
We've a lwb Transit panel van with a pretty large bed, any practical issues I'm missing?
I know it's hard to predict and 2013 was a bit of a disaster but what the weather usually like in May/June on the west coast?

Hi moombat, we've done that trip a few times in June, down as far as bordeaux,The weather can be quite nice at that time of year but as you say 2013 had a bit of rain,we got caught in it in around st jean de monts and had to move on up to Pornic where it was far better. Doing it again next year early june out and back through Roscoff .Haven't any experience of the aires yet as we use the acsi card campsites which are quite cheap in june .

Of course it's do able, you can get most of the same supplies here as you do there. Just have an E111 or what ever it's called to get medical assistance if needed for everyone travelling including the baby

Thanks for the info folks!

We were going to wait till he was two before we headed over but the seed is sown for a trip next year now.. If the planets align we'll probably go for it. I suppose if the weather isn't great we'll just keep heading south till we get what we want! 8-)

Took our baby to France last year when she was 3 months old in April, and enjoyed it so much we took her again in June! Fat controller is spot on, baby supplies are the exact same over there as here (though a bit pricier in France we found!). The only thing we can never find in French supermarkets is Detol or Milton so you might want to stick some of that in if you are still sterilizing anything. You will have a ball!

It's a long time since we had babies :) but back in the day we did travel with our children when they were very young (although not babies)
I cannot think of a reason why you wouldn't travel with 9-10 month baby.
I think I would take with me a supply of baby forumla and other baby supplies.
You can of course find these items in France but you might not be able to buy the exact same brand and that might cause a problem for baby changing from his favourite formula to another.

On one trip I recall having to take one of our children to the local GP and that worked out fine too.

Go there and enjoy it :)
