Last Monday Cavan county council unanimously passed a motor home motion allowing motor homes to park overnight for a duration of one night at all amenity car parks. The details are yet to be worked out but the spirit of the motion is to allow motor homes to use lake or other amenity car parks for one night stopovers. They may include dedicated motor home spaces in towns and villages also. They want to utilize existing infrastructure at as little cost as possible. The locations will appear on the "this is Cavan" website map. I would like to commend councilor Shane P O'Reilly for bringing my idea to the council. Cavan is now motor home friendly. Just another 31 counties to go. Please pass this message on to your local representatives as we can make change happen.

Well done on your input.
If only more councils would make the effort to give it a go.

That's fantastic news Ron a good job well done. At least the Coincil can see the value of Motorhomes to the local economy.

That's great news. Fair do's to them for a progressive initiative - lots of inland water ways in parts of Co Cavan too. :)

BAZ 25 I agree with part of your post but it definitely must be Donegal for Sam in 2915.

Great news and I have to say that I think Motorhome Craic played a part in this as well. The meet that took place in Belturbet and the follow up article in the Anglo Celt along with the vision of local business, Councillors etc certainly helped promote the case for Motorhome tourism. Motorhome parking facilities with possibly hook up and water is certainly on the cards as part of the Marina upgrade in Belturbet. A big thank you to Cavan County Council.
