Hi CRAICers,
Do any of you good people know if it's possible to park overnight at Auchan in Cherbourg? I'll be arriving on a Sunday afternoon and want to stock up there before going south.
As always, all help is greatly appreciated.............Hobey.

Hi Hobey

I assume you are talking about the one at the N13 roundabout at the top of the town?
Is it open on a Sunday?

If so, I have never done it but it shouldn't be a problem. The carpark is massive.

There is an Aire in the village square at Sainte Mere Eglise which is only 20 miles away.
Sainte Mere Eglise also has a municipal site which I have stayed at.

If you chose the Aire at Sainte Mere Eglise Dont worry about being there after 8am the next morning as they dont enforce it at all. Some stay for days. To go to the Airbourne museum across the road.

If you need directions to either please let me know.

Hi guys, thanks for that.
I'm sorry, I should have been clearer. I'm aware everything is closed Sundays. What I meant was, can I stay overnight so I can stock up on Monday! Duh. Also Kronenburg1664 is waaay cheaper at Majestic in the shopping centre in town centre.
As usual thanks for all info................Hobey

Hi all Craic people; This is my first time for posting a message. I had a little trouble logging on due to forgotten username forgotten password etc got fed up and gave up for a while. Now set up for automatic login at last!
We are heading first time for France this 4th July landing at Rosscoff and have ferry booked for 7th August from Cherbourg to return(Using Irish Ferries and about £500 worth of Tesco vouchers towards the ferry costs!!). I intend to head along the west coast starting at Brest & aiming for Bordeaux then inland wanting to be in the Normandy area for the last 4/5 days taking in the D Day atmosphere etc. Has anyone done something similar or have any tips, we are going to use Aires and locations in the France Passion guide along the way. Cheers John & Emily

You will be bang in the middle of the high season and all of France will be on holiday and they love the west coast.
Aires will be very busy and when on the move it will be best to depart early in the morning (9.30 ish) and plan to arrive at your next destination about mid-day, otherwise you might not get a space.
Also, don't expect much space between yourself and your neighbour during this season.

Otherwise enjoy the best country in Europe for motor caravanning.
