Campsites in Galway - any suggestions

We have only been to Galway once and we stayed in Salthill. We plan to head over to the Volvo Ocean Race in July 2012 (unless we go to France early) but were looking for a site closer to the city.

As this is a big event we are thinking of booking soon.

Does anyone know of descent sites nearer the city than Salthill?

As far as I know Mark Salthill is the nearest you can get to Galway city. Post on the review site and check for sure. There are a few on there from Galway.

I thought Salthill was the closest but it is a right walk after a few pints... LOL
