Spanish campsites

Having spent 6 weeks in Spain some seven years ago, we have been yearning to go again, last time we spent most of the time wild camping with the occasional night on a campsite. This year we have been looking into booking into La manga or campsite Playa de mazzaron, what i am asking here have any other craic members stayed on these sites and if so would you please share your views and experiences.
Many Thanks in advance.
Pat

Stayed on both sites in March 2014.
La Manga is a huge site. Pitches are small and 'roadways' narrow. Restaurant ok. But,for us,the overall impression was that of a shantytown.
Mazarron is quite nice. Site on beach. Long, sandy beach. Couple of nice pubs in village. Can be busy so arrive early.

Thanks for that info Ben/Ber. We had made enquiries way back in early september to book a pitch at playa de Mazzaron only to be told that they don't accept any bookings for the period from December through to February, this is their peak period and are usually full, as they run a scheme where you can purchase a bono card ... this card once bought entitles you to a discount on pitch fees for the future, It costs around (off the top of my head) 500 euros expensive at the beginning ... but after a couple of years you really begin to save. I think they don't accept bookings because they get lots of repeat business from people over wintering in Spain each year who have purchased this bono (or loyalty) card.
We had heard that La Manga was a huge site like about 1200 pitches, and lots of club members from the Caravan and camping club have rallys there over winter ... what we we were worried about is .. that there doesn't seem to be much of a life outside the campsite, and that all the pitches looked dark and shaded ..... not exactly what we would be looking for upon leaving Irelands green ( and wet n cloudy) green shores.
