Dirty Cassette TIP

Our toilet cassette wasn't the cleanest inside since we got the van. The flap thing ended up breaking as it was sticking, cleaned the cassette out and bleached it, but still a film of limescale etc  in it.

Got a new flap from Hagans.

Filled it 3/4 with water and added two washing machine tablets and drove around for a few days, I use my van most days. The cassette is now as good as new and sparkly clean :)

So if you just use the blue or green, worthwhile to stick a few washing tabs in there from time to time.

The inside of the cassette won't get dirty if you fit a sog?

it will but not that blue crud the chemicals create
a simple rinse is all thats needed

plus you can empty toilet as often as you like as there is no expense for chemicals

Good point.

I think limescale was a big issue in mine, water is quite soft here but the last owner must of had hard water.

If you use your own septic tank to empty your toilet you must use non-bio tabs. WE have been using scented washing tablets for younks in the toilet instead of BLUE. Works brill.

I find since we started using the Thetford sachets , we don't get the crud build up. We don't even stock the liquid chemical anymore in the shop.

Tristan it's impossible to get the sachets up here anywhere and I think they are the best. I've had them when I was on the mainland but the folk up here seem to sell what they get the biggest profit on.

Bio is the ones to use as it's the biological action that's needed, and that goes for the septic tank aswell,
