Do you not know the rules in France? (not sure about Spain) go to bed by 9PM, up at 7am and leave. Drink half a bottle of wine between you all, take 4 hours to eat your dinner and sleep.

Sounds like a job instead of a holiday.

I'll stick to Ireland & the UK and that independant country Scotland (maybe).

Do you know what's worse? when french visitors are in Ireland and some Irish Motorhomers behave like the French do in case they upset the French! I say carry on as normal and if they don't get to sleep until after midnight, then tough! They didn't come here to experience their own culture.

(tongue firmly in cheek)

You forgot to mention , when speaking to french tourists it is imperative to speak slowly and in a loud voice. :D

I'd hate that. Not only would I hate to be parked 3 ft from my neighbours on all sides, but jaysis, I'd be worried if one MH caught fire, it wouldn't take long to spread to others...

Give me a loanly wildcamping spot in the arse of nowhere any day.

Having watched the video, it makes me glad our camper is dark beige...

Fire was the first thing that I thought of too, Kevin.
I saw a caravan on fire once, and it went up in a flash.

Thanks for the link, that was insightful, hopefully they are not all like that as I do intend to travel next year. Don't reckon her indoors would fancy that one bit at all, much rather a nice family campsite to be honest..

We're in France now and we're evacuated from a campsite in the Ardeche at 2am due to river flooding, we moved to an Aire in Vallon pont d arc and woke to find there was something like 50 Moyorhomes with us parked about 3 feet apart. Miserable bunch to, spent all day and evening sitting in doing nothing. Occasionally cleaning the air vents on the dash.
They were all in bed by 9pm, hardly spoke a word to each other.
Have to say this is out first trip here and we have stayed in a few Aires and a couple of campsites and are loving it!

Many aires are just like that in high season.
They are only parking places not campsites.

If you need space around you I suggest you try aires out of high season or stick to campsites.

It can be hit or miss a lot of the time. We stayed on the Aire at Arzon last year about 28th June and had loads of space. We returned about 28 July this year and had just enough space to put a chair between us and the van beside us. It would have been pointless anyway because the sun couldn't even get between the vans.

Aires are great for visiting an area and doing the tourist thing but we shouldn't always expect to have much space.

We were on another Aire this year where a French Motorhome parked beside us but told me he was leaving a little extra space because our doors were facing each other. We went away for the day and came back to find another Motorhome squeezed into the space. The guy who had spoken to me just looked over and shrugged. LOL
