Hi,
Is a repair necessary for a stone chip (not in line of vision) and if so is it successful?. Seems like a lot of glass to replace if it isn't a success. Appreciate any advice. Thanks

In the north our insurance glass cover usually allows for free chip repair. It doesn't have to be in the line of vision. It is classed as a preventative measure as a sudden jolt such as hitting a pothole or heat on the window in frosty weather usually causes it to spread resulting in a claim for a complete windscreen.

Essential before frosty weather sets in. Most insurance policies have windscreen cover included.
I had a chi prepared last year it is successful and guaranteed.
No hit on your insurance it's a repair that does not effect your policy

Thanks for quick replies. Contacted Autoglass, 105 euro to call out and repair, sounds ok. Have 80 euro excess on policy as it's an A class so will just go ahead and get it done. Again thanks very much.

Might be cheaper if you brought the camper to them

Yep 60 euro. But (nearest) Autoglass, Athlone office has closed, and a day off work to bring it to elsewhere to get it done. Rather spend the time away in the van having fun.

Fast and good service. Autoglass came this evening, not a 100%, but might last a life time (hopefully). or at least until the ins policy is more than a few weeks old.
