Hi guys
Any chance of your thoughts about going to France next Easter
Stena are quoting 520 for return fare with cabin rosslare _cherbourg for camper and 3 adults and 2 children
On the 28th march for 2 weeks.
Hoping to mix Aries and campsites
Straight to Paris for 3 days, maybe a couple in eurodisney ,then make our way back to cherbourg taking in the dday beaches .
Herself always wanted to go to Paris so that's a definite
Summer obviously would be better but not doable
Will be our first big trip
Any thoughts or advice please

Sorry I can't wait to hear your replies to hear if it is goer as I am limited to school holidays too - I was not being sarcastic sorry if it sounded like that.
I really would like to go away at Easter when my 9 (and three quarters) daughter is off school.
I await to hear what the others have to say.

Euro disney is great by the way did it last year with a 6,7,8,& 9 year old they all had a ball. But we flew over and stayed on site.

Aah. I understand now. No need to apologize. .
One of mine has junior cert next year.
So I know where you are coming from.
Any chance you could point me in the direction of cheap Disney tickets

Easter is early April in 2015. Could still be coolish.
I was over in early March 2013 and there was a lot of snow in Northern France but a month can make a difference to the weather of course.

I think it depends on your expectations. If you plan to do sight seeing, Disney and the war stuff it could be fine. I doubt it would be a sit around the pool or beach type of trip.

Could be a very nice trip.

Thanks for that .
Did you find it handy to find aires and campsites?
The one near Paris that i looked at is only open for the season from the 27th march
Did not think about snow ,although I knew it would be cool.

Also is the ferry at €500 not too out of the way

I would suggest you buy the ASCI campsite guide book and All the Aires book from Vicarious Books.
A great deal of both close until May or June so planning may be required.

There is a massive Aire at Disney Land Paris.

It may be cheaper to landbridge through England to Calais then a straight run to Paris. Some others on here have stayed at Disney and you could train it into the city

Thanks but this would be our first big trip abroad,so not going to try the landbridge option this time.

we have done france by car a few times, but always june/july/august.

I suppose I am just wondering is easter a bad idea.
we will be staying near paris for a few days and commuting in to sightsee.
maybe eurodisney for a few days for the kids.
then slowly make our way back to the ferry

The crossing will probably be rough, it was last year when we did it and crossing took near 24 hours because if it, now I don't want to do it unless by landbridge and the timing is similar

The closest site to Disney is 20/30mins away & I'm not sure when it is open - Les Etangs Fleuris & we can highly recommend it.
You can stay on site in the car park at Disney for 30€ per night (2013 summer price), no EHU.
Disney tickets from attraction tickets, we have always got good theme park ticket deals with them.
Anything else re: Disney just ask! We didn't go into Paris when we visited in MH so can't help you on that aspect.

We done france Easter 2013, it was cold and windy around the dday beaches but very quite with tourists so got to see lots. We bought an annual pass for Disneyland which allows you to stay in their carpark for free. Toilet and showers block beside you. 10 minute walk to Disneyland & train station to take you into Paris. Was £50 for a family ticket which included unlimited travel so hopped on and off trains. In Paris to see all their major attractions. Loads of aires around the dday beaches to choose from.

Just a heads up for everyone
I tried to make a new booking using the code but the code would not work
I contacted stena who said the the code was only for 2014,and that a new discount would need to be negotiated for 2015
The girl said that because i had booked the flexible fare that any discount could be applied retropectively.

i have just used the link again and put in my membership number on the stena page ,clicked submit ,and was taken to a stena page with motorhomecraic 10%off and was prompted to use the booking window on the right hand side of the screen
i have selected my dates and cabins and put in all the passenger details and when i click continue,a pop up window says"no space for this offer"

i also tried different name and details but no luck

earlier when itried to get stena to apply the discount they said it is only applicable for 2014.

just to clarify that i had my ferry crossing booked last week and had not known about the motorhomecraic discount :(

Last year we did Disney and stayed at Davy Crockett Ranch as it worked out cheaper than paying for our Disney passes and a campsite. Basically the price of the ticket was the same as our stay there plus you had the added bonus of getting into Disney an hour earlier. Our plan was just to park the motorhome in the drive of the mobile home not actually stay in the mobile home but ours was first class - 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living area, dining area, kitchen with everything even a dishwasher and your decking area. The park is massive with swimming pool Disney characters pony riding etc..and only 5/10 min drive to Disney. Would highly recommend

Having negotiated discounts with Stenaline for a club I used to frequent(motorcycle one) they are yearly and that's probably why it's stopped working.

Hi pat
First of all, thanks for originally providing the link for the 25% discount
I chose the flexible fare option on My original booking.
This allowed me to cancel the booking up to 48 hours, before travel, with no penalty
This only cost €20 extra
I just rebooked using your link, then logged back into the Stena site and looked up 'my bookings ' and just a click of a button cancelled the original booking.

I also took the flexible option on the new booking, and that only cost €15 this time, just in case I need to change my dates or god forbid cancel again

Yippee- booked with the 25% discount. :D

Now to sort out the route to Disney Paris, where to park when there and an alternative route back to port again with great views and a good overnighter each way.

Anyone any ideas?

You can park at disneyland, dedicated car park for campers overnight thou can be noisy in mornings with sweeper cleaning, menpchanical walkway takes you from car park straight to the parks

Campsite to consider is berny rivière great campsite and they run coaches to both disney and Paris

Cheers
