Anyone know if there is overnight parking for motorhomes at the National Ploughing Championships from 23rd to 25th September at Ratheniska, Stradbally?
Any advice would be welcome.

Hi.you need to contact the organisers office and they will email you a form to fill out to register to stay.I think it is a must that you register with them.the site will have toilets and running water only and no generators.
As far as I know it is free to stay.
Hopefully that helps.. Steven.

The beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Theres nothing so beautiful as seeing a beautiful ploughed field. Even better is seeing the tractor doing it. If I could get away I would be at it I can tell you.

Thanks Steven (phoebe) for your help  .I emailed NPA today and got this reply :
"You can park overnight in the campervan / caravan site.
This is an un-serviced site so I advise you bring your own water, etc. but there will be portaloo facilities.
If you wish to do so can you please complete the attached form and return so that I have record of your intention to stay there."
Also as you rightly said you must register your vehicle in advance and parking is free, generators are not allowed due to fire risk. So getting the wellies out for hopefully a decent couple of days.
Thanks again  .

I went a few years ago when it was in Athy, well worth it. If you are not pushed for time travel to the site the evening before, go to the event the next day and leave the morning after. By doing it this way you will miss all the traffic as you will be heading in the opposite direction both ways. two things not to miss are, the lumberjack skills demonstrations and the tractor building competition, a real eye-opener. If you're into vintage stuff or horses working there's plenty of that as well. Enjoy.

This might sound daft but if the first man ploughs the field, what's left for the rest to do

It's just an excuse for a lazy farmer, hold a competition and get everyone else to do it
