What would be the difference in power draw for the following (assuming TVs are same size etc as I just want a rough idea):

12v DC TV. But the transformer supplying the 12v is actually plugged into the inverter.

Vrs

220v plugged into the inverter.

Thanks.

I would surmise that the 12 through transformer & inverter would draw more than 220 solely through inverter.

Why not get a 12v tv and wire direct to leisure batteries as this will draw far less than either of your proposals.

Good man FC that's good enough for me. It didn't seem to me to be a great set up. But the guy I bought the camper had it set up that way and I never bothered with it.

I might in time. My current TV which is 12v does not have Saorview. We really only use the TV for the kids to watch DVD's so not really all that bothered about a TV signal. We are heading off this evening for the weekend and I thought I'd try out a newer TV nabbed from out kitchen. I got a fantastic reception on it earlier so I was just wondering about the power draw.

Thanks again.

The 300w inverter draws 1 amp from the batteries when it it turned on, (analogue needle type amp meter) when tv (35w) and free to air box (don't know watts :( but small) are then turned on there's no more drawn from the batteries according to the amp meter,

If it was again I would go down the route of the 12v tv but things are doing ok as they are so I'm leaving well enough alone,

By the way when buying a tv for the MH make sure you get a wide viewing angle 160/170* that way you don't have to be directly in front of the tv to get the clear picture,

I got a 19" bush combo in argos for €150 at the time and I find it very good but it is 230v,

Many smaller tvs have an external 12 volt transformer,as opposed to internal 12volt internal transformers so make no difference

Thanks guys. I'm happy with the draw off the batts but what is the story with the reception? I put the TV in the van on Friday turned on our Status 530 and bingo I get a get a great picture for all the Saorview channel. So off we go. But... could I feck get a reception when I tried up around Westport. Nada, not a thing in a variety of places around Westport.

Get home try again and yes its fine.

I always scan for new channels when we move sites as the signal could be coming from a different transmitter you dont necessarily have to retune.

Ours came with a TV and I hate it. A good book and a torch! Sorry I hate it in the van.
I am not very helpful on this occasion. 🇧🇭

I have two, one in the main seating area and one in the bedroom area. Dont always use them as its been quite a while since I had the satellite dish up but would use it to entertain the grandkids with a dvd when on the move.

Don't do cards, to big and heavy to run about, hate fish unless it's one of their fingers.

For me it's feet up and relax and from time to time watch a movie
