Battery problems

 ·
Posted: 02.08.2014  ·  #1
Just replaced the vehicle battery after it died and let me down 4 times in a week, now starts on the button every timeNow my leisure battery is not holding a charge. The power button flickers, the water pump gurgles then all the lights go out, despite a long drive and solar panel fitted. Am I looking at a new leisure battery as well? Getting scundered with one problem after another, obviously costing chunks of money every time.
(2010 Fiat ducato swift Sundance)
Any advice, is there any alternative to a new leisure battery, or just have to take another hit?

Check connections. Make sure all are clean, making good contact and everything is bolted down tight.

How old is the leisure battery? Have you checked the water levels recently?

Chances are you will probably need to open up the wallet again though... :(

If it is the original leisure battery it could just be done.

Thanks Blag & Mark for the helpful comments. I will check connections then shop around for a leisure battery if required.

Google voucher codes for Halfrauds if you're not with axa, I got 10% off my bike the other week by doing so.

Check that you are getting the proper charge from alternator / charger / solar panel with a multimeter before forking out anymore money,

Very un likely that 2 batteries go together, your charging solenoid may be stuck thus letting van battery be drained by leisure battery's when that should not happen,

Worth checking to be safe

I'm sure if you were passing any of the sponsors they would be happy to check for you,

Van is four years old, you have had it from new and the leisure battery hasn't been changed. Usual life expectancy is 3 years.

With the battery dieing when you power things on then I would nearly put money on it, that it's gave up the ghost.

Of course always worth sticking a tester on it.

I tried Google translate in a number of languages without a suitable meaning. I tried klingon too but to no avail.
