New Aires Network France

Has anyone come across the Network 'Camping Car Park' in France? Apparently this new Network works with Camp Site owners and other property owners who provide the space for development of these Aires. All of the Aires are fitted with entry and exit barriers and all are identical with the same colour scheme and signage.

The entrances are fitted with machines for credit/debit cards and also a 'Swipe' card for members. Swipe cards are available through the website www.campingcarpark.com and can be pre-loaded with credit. Charges per night vary from €8.60 to €12.00 depending on location and season. All of the Aires have electricity and WiFi and, of course, all of the other essentials. There is also a Pre-Booking system which could be very handy for long distance travellers saving the need to go looking for a berth for the night. There is nothing more frustrating than arriving at an Aire, after a long drive, to find it full, or closed, and then having to find an alternative.

I know we are well into the holiday season and this information may be coming a bit late but there is always next year.

Check it out!

Thanks for the link. Very interesting.

A French guy mentioned this to me last week.
It seems that a few of the smaller campsites are changing to this as there is more demand for motorhome parking in France now.

We have stopped in a few which have a similar system but are not part of the link you provided.

There's no doubt about it, France always leads the way other countries follow centuries behind. Well done to France I raise a glass of good French Red Wine from Bordeaux to them.

We have looked at the one outside the site at little flower campsite Le Conleau Vannes. It has been there for over a year.

might be usefull on occasion although 12 euro seemed a bit steep, especially since in June we were on the main site for 14 per night with pool and bar etc.

There is a new one just opened beside the railway station in Royan, but again we were able to use an ACSI 4 star site for very little more.

We did stay on a huge 180 van aire in ST Denis de Oleron (ils de Oleron) for 9 euros, but it was an ex municipal site with showers toilets and dish washing facilities. EHU was included. This is the most I have ever paid for an Aire, but worth it.

Most aires we used this year were free.
