I travel around dublin every week and have never as yet paid a toll on the M50, they apparently have no access to dva or dvla data bases

Let's get a clearer picture for jack for his trip to cork,

Tolls that I can think of

1) Dundalk bypass. Only heard of this one lately on this site
2) drogheda bypass
3) M50
4) fermoy

Any more that I'm missing?

Holy moly,

I didn't realise there was as many tolls,

Since I changed career a few years ago from driving hgv's I'm lost with the new motorways, luckily I can remember the old roads :D

As far as I know jack the only one that is automated is the M50 so you should pay at a booth for the rest,

Sorry if I caused confusion about the Dundalk bypass, my mistake

Go to post 10 & 11 Of this list

So it's not going to cost you that much after all jack

Well I've registered on the system and apparently every time I use the M50 it will automatically be taken from my accounts will be interesting.

Eflow do get their info from dvla and do come after you as I found out getting back to work. We had a number of letters over a two week period for a vehicle which we had sold to a dealer here in the north, who subsequently sold it to someone in the south a day or so later. In that time they had made around 8journeys on the M50 and because the letter hadn't gone immediately to inform of the sale they came after the name on the dvla records!

My cousin got letters last month for the trip to and from the boat whilst going to England and back. I am beginning to wonder is due to the transfer of motor taxation to Swansea as I never got a letter in previous trips.

For anybody using tolls a lot down south there's a tag you can get that sits on inside of windscreen, but it has a maintenance charge per year, so only really for the frequent user

Just keep an eye on how much they take out. Someone posted previously that they were charged as a car in one direction and hgv / commercial on their return trip.

I have my motorhome registered on the video scheme which is in my view the most economic.

From time to time a glich occurs and the computer charges me at commercial rate (not much different). It obviously thinks I am a white van.

My reg number is supposed to flag up on screen for an operative to tweak the amount but sometimes slips through the net. An email rectifies that.

I take the view that if I am a guest in another country I abide by their rules and laws in much the same way as I would expect visitors here to behave.

I remember towing caravans through Dublin city centre years ago, so a couple of euro is worth it to me to avoid the grief.

Davy

It was may self who mentioned different charges on our eflow account.
That was with our last motorhome. I have changed the vehicle details on the account to the new vehicle so I will see next week when I get home.

I agree with Davy. Pay it and have less worries. It is better than what there used to be.

The Eflow Tag system is a great system and allows you to use the fast track lane. It is a small tage device fitted onto the windscreen and does all the toll roads in the South. You will get a monthly bill via the post so it is easy to check and see how much you are being charged.

If you use just the M50 then you can register your credit card or debit card and vehicle to automatically take the toll as Jack says which is handy as you do not have to worry about it.

Be warned the fines escalate very quickly if not paid and you will be sorry in the long run as it is good money down the drain.
