Thinking of putting a second leisure batt in the van, I would like to put it beside the other batt but it will be inside the van under the back seat which means that when I make up the bed it would be under our heads or our feet depending how the van is laying would this be safe feed back welcome :(

What about vans that have the batt under the driver or passenger seats are they a different type of batt I remember the merc veto and some of the early transits fitted with the batt under the driver seat

Hi

I have two batteries under my bed both in a Red and White Battery Box.

The amount of gas given off is very minor I did find this on a university web site if it helps

Charging batteries in living quarters should be safe. This also applies to lead acid. Ventilate the dwellings regularly as you would a kitchen when cooking. Lead acid produces some hydrogen gas but the amount is minimal when charged correctly. Hydrogen gas is explosive and one would need a concentration of 4% to create an explosion. This level would only be achieved if large lead acid batteries were charged in a sealed room.

There is no way with the amount of drop holes in our vans that you could say it is a sealed room

Looking for easy life I simply used heavy duty auto cable and normal battery terminals.
Made the cables long enough that I could lift out one box at a time.
