Hi to all........was wondering if anyone has stayed in the harbour in Galway recently. Am thinking of Friday night on way to Maum. Been awhile since I stayed before and it's good value for an overnight.

Definitely, if ya want overcrowded bars, overpriced beer, mad stag/hen dos, pickpockets, expensive restaurants, . Nah.........I'll head straight to Keanes in maum, good Guinness, talk to the locals about the sheep trade, gossip, walk across the road to the van, sleep soundly with the river running gently by. Sorted
We are just home after 12 nights away, spent last night at the quay in Galway, along with 12 more motorhomes. Thought it would be noisey etc, but to our delight it was very quiet. When we woke this am at 10, we bought parking tickets for 5 hours, which brought us until 3pm, which was handy as we spent day shopping.
However there were three other motorhomes who didnt purchase the tickets, and they got the notice put on their window, saying they were illegally parked, and fined i think 70euro. This was on official galway harbour card, and the number plate of the motorhome was on the card. The funny thing is that neither motorhome moved on when they received the notice, nor did they put up a ticket. I assume they thought they were caught for the fine, so why not stay there.
On the front window of one of the motorhomes was a note from the owners saying "please do not clamp our motorhome", signed by two people..this to me was bizzare.
We Parked up There on the Thursday of Race Week for a few hours while we went Shopping. There was plenty spare spaces. We used it to hook up to the Electricity.Cards for the Electric were €4 and were available from a Pub at the Corner,(Padraig's I think).
Not all Stands have the Electricity Points.Water is Free.
I think it's €4 for Overnight Parking from 7pm to 8am,Payable at the Meter.Or You can Buy a 24hr Permit from the Harbour Office for €18
