I know what reverse polarity is, but what damage (if any ) does it do to a van , I was on a site in Royan this yr and 1 of the EHUs was reversed ( someone had a tester ) I have never had a problem at hook-ups and it doesnt seem to be a problem for the French vans , does it flatten batterys :'( or make hairdriers go backways :D

We have found that if you don't correct it you get less heat in things.
Electric Toasters, hair dryers and more importantly coffee machines.

It did cause our charger to click like mad one time.

I prefer to correct it as I am sure there are other issues.

Basically what reversed polarity means is that the switch on your appliance instead off breaking the circuit on the Live wire is breaking it on the neutral side. Therefore the live wire remains live which is the danger. It really wont make much difference to the appliance but to the person who thinks the appliance has no live power because he has turned switch off it could

I don't have a clue about it but I've got a tester and if the 3 lights don't light up I change the connections until they do and then I'm happy.

We just carry a short lead already made up for reversed polarity and add it to the hook up if required.

Mark maybe that's what I do but I seem to have various connections I just use them until I get the right one. Much too technical for me so I look for the 3 lights on the plug.
