Hi All,

I hope someone can help I am heading up north in August and we hope to spend a week up there.
Of course we will go to Shanogue and spend a few nights but on we are going to head from Killybegs Co. Donegal to Derry either Saturday the 9th or Sunday the 10th and we would love to know where we should park up and even stay the night.

If you have any suggestions that would be great we will have a 8 and 9 year old and also our little pouch Penny with us.

Does anyone know is there a city hop on/off bus tour of the city?

Thanks in advance.

There is a walking tour of the city walls which is very interesting but not sure about a hop on/off type bus. While I have had a few weekends in hotels there I don't know of anyone staying in the motorhome as there may only be the odd wild camping spot there. You may be better off parking and spending the day there and then going onto a site say at Benone

some of the clubs have held rallies at City of Derry rugby club, which I believe is not too far out of the city.

I was talking to someone last weekend and they said a taxi was not overly expensive.

Might be worth contacting the club to see if you could park overnight.

Or contact Ross Downey (willie) as a local motorhomer to see if he can recommend somewhere.

Not sure about parking in derry city but there's a great spot 15 minutes away in fahan,co donegal beside a great pub and possibly the best steaks in ireland cooked over a wooden fire. It's called the firebox grill. You can park beside the marina looking out to the yachts, have a nice pint at night and walk a beautiful inishowen beach in the morning. If you need a recharge of power you can drive a further 10 min down the road to a official aire site in buncrana. Hope this of use
