We have just been on a short tour of Cork and I must say that Cobh town was a refreshing experience.Instead of been met with height restricting barriers and no overnight parking sighns as you do in a lot of towns the first thing you see entering Cobh are free MH parking sighns that lead you to the quays and on parking up there is a sighn informing you that it is a five minute walk to the town centre. There were five MH's there as we parked up.Cobh town admin could teach the rest of the country a thing or two about attracting business in.They deserve to sell all the steaks and pints they do.

And if you were there yesterday, I'm sure you would have noticed this oul tub tied to the pier...

Look at the cars in the photo to try to understand the scale of it, and then I'll bet you underestimate it. "Ruby princess".... look it up.... a monster by all accounts.

Cork is certainly one of the better Counties alright, Deirdre !

We stayed overnight in Midleton last Saturday night and we were the only Irish Motorhome there along with two French vans, and the last time we were there we were on our own, it is hard to expect councils to provide Aires if people don't use them.

Agree Pat we were the only Irish MH the night we went to Midleton (it was a horrid night mind).
Anyone heading down this direction take note Midleton, Cobh and Ardmore are very close to each other and a weekend would do all three without much driving.
All have great places to eat and things to see.

Our plan ,Siobhan was to overnight in Midleton and spend the next day in Youghal!
However when we got to Youghal we were met with the dreaded hight barriers in all the Carparks that we came across and after driving through the town twice we moved on to Ardmore.

Next time you're in Youghal, there's a large car park behind "The Quays Bar", here - 51.952625,-7.844606. There are no height barriers and I've seen campers parked there before. They've recently snazzed the parking area up a bit with new surface, stainless steel railings along the dock walls and some interesting sun shades in the car park.

Nice lunch menu in the Quay bar too.

I don't know what the situation is with overnight parking.

We passed through Youghal today, took a few photos of the parking area behind the quay's pub...

There was one camper there today.

No dedicated motorhome spaces. All car sized spaces only. I paced out the parking bays and they were 8ft x 16ft so not a lot of room for medium or large sized campers.

There is a great public swimming pool in Youghal for anyone with kids.

Also there is a seafood pub/restaurant called Ahernes which is really famous! Not cheap by any means but lovely if you like good fish.

Shove one gets what they pay for. I hate paying for a bad meal no matter how cheap it is. Have Ben to Aherenes a few time as I was responsible for a church in Youghall and it's a great place. I love Youghall and it's people.

Parked up in Cobh six MH's. Blustery and cold. Heading for the five minute stroll into town now for a bev and a meal. Less than an hour down the road what a great resource. The parade starts at 3.30 pm tomorrow.
