Looking for a spot near to Titanic quarter.

Hi Folks,
We are sailing into Belfast on Sunday 27th July and was going to book tickets to visit the Titanic museum on Monday 28th July. We would like to stop over on the Sunday night close to the museum if possible. We plan the head north afterwards then west and ultimately travel down the west coast as far as possible over our 2 week tour finally sailing back to Angelsey from Dublin.
We don't tend to plan too far ahead and just bimble about until we feel a place is right but a few 'must see' places will be noted if anyone can oblige. My son has requested to see the Giant's Causeway for a start. I have had a good look on www.ireland.com.

Cheers
Bodge

I don't know the area well, but we did the Titanic museum two years ago, we stayed over night at Shanogue house and drove into Belfast the following Morning, we didn't have the Tickets pre booked but there was no problem getting them over the counter and had only to wait 20 minutes for the next tour, There is no problem parking the Motorhome nearby. Hope you enjoy your holiday.

There is also apart from shannogue the lough shore caravan park at jordanstown. Be careful at the giants causeway as he national trust charge for parking as well as entry into the visitor centre unless of course you are a member. You don't have to pay for the visitor centre if you walk through the walkway to the right or over the top (it's a strange building, but you will see when there) the visitor centre is crap and not worth the money and you can't get to the mediocre cafe without paying! There is a bus down and up to the stones but unless you pay at the top (I think it's £1 return each) you can't get it back up!
The giants causeway bit is free as the national trust don't own it, but like to pretend that they do, they own the car parks etc so can get away with charging.

There is just a bit further along the coast the carrick-a-reed rope bridge which again is a national trust thing but a fantastic view of the coast from a rope bridge if you are brave enough.

The coast along ere is dotted with areas which were used in game of thrones.

If you look on line for offers for the national trust you can get it for as low as £50 for a family ticket which lasts all year and covers two places you will probably visit and then be able to use it across the rest of the uk.

Thanks, we are NT members already, I hadn't thought they had properties/areas in Ireland.

I was thinking of joining 'Safe Nights Ireland' as a fallback. We have extensive wilding experience in the UK and have visited France, Germany and Holland so don't forsee any issues wilding but at 10 euros a night SNI could be useful for waterfills and cassette emptying where offered.

Don't bother with safe nights Ireland.
Many members on here will say the same thing.

I see you are subscribed to Motorhomecraic so can access the poi file for sat nav. Use it instead or ask on here as you travel. There is more advice on here and if you are not happy with somewhere when you arrive post a message and someone should be able to help with another suggestion.

Just did the giants causeway area, joined national trust, so worth it...however we drove our camper up to the site and were refused parking for the campervan, it was about 7pm and carpark fairly empty....had to head down to bushmills and get bus up...stayed the night there wild with other campers...anyway got bus up again in morning for a second look and few campers parked up...bit annoying!!!

Wild camped whole time in NI and Scotland...if in douth, just follow other campervans...

We got caught out on the water fills (stopped at few sites and they ranged from £25 to £46.99), so ended up buying bottled water in supermarkets and filling up.

If you are traveling to Westport Co. Mayo this is a handy spot that we have used. Quiet and just out the back of the town

Well, Got back home yesterday. What a trip!!
Started off in Belfast at the Titanic Museum (fab) and headed up to the Giants Causeway (stopping off at the carrick a rede bridge enroute) where we enjoyed the causeway but I personally felt the NT a bit in your face (Joni Mitchel style- paved paradise, put up a parking lot) Had to use the park and ride in Bushmills after being turned away from the carpark. We are members so paid nothing but was shocked at the costs to non members if they used the onsite parking facilities. Then spent the night at Malin Head, right at the top for a cobweb blowing away session and boy I was not disappointed.
We moved around the coast (Patsy Dans bar, Famine village) stopping at beautiful beaches on the way. Snorkaling, kayaking, swimming, walking and cycling where we could. Everyone we met were very pleasant and seemed genuinly pleased to meet us.
We met DAN1 at 'Powers field' where we stayed for 2 days to enjoy the walks and cracking beach. Thanks Dan and Kay for the helpful chats :).
We only went on a site once over the 2 weeks at killarney (whitebridge).
The poi file was the star of the show really, we use the UK Wildcamping poi on a regular basis and both of these resources are invaluable imo.
We found fresh water taps at various places and filled up at every chance, the toilet cassette emptied likewise at public loos etc.

I could go on but will spare you the details, just a big thank you to the contributors and compilers of the database (I have a couple to add).
We covered 1500 miles and saw north south east and west and am already contemplating a diving trip to the south.

We parked around the corner from the centre as the official car park is under ground, so turn in the coach turning area and trun left at the traffic lights and just on the right there is a car park two other MH's parked while we were there. No issues give yourself at least three hours parking! Well worth he trip.

We did the park and ride at Bushmills and it was great they took us straight to the door and it was hassle free.

The carrick a rede bridge parking staff were lovely and let us into the coach area as it was closer!

NI rocks and everyone was really really lovely and helpful!

We will go again!

Thanks to Ally and Mark for all their advice and help!
